Children and TV – parents tips

Tips for parents - encourage your kids watch less TV

If you are a parent, perhaps you have problems with your kids and TV. Usually, children are attracted by TV and if you don’t control what they watch and how long they watch TV, you may have some problems. Check out our tips:

  • How many times a day is good for a child to watch TV. It’s not recommended for children under the age of 3 years to be left to watch TV. From that age up maximum 15-20 minutes are advisable. Until first grade duration should not exceed 40 minutes – one childish widescreen movie. Who observe this time? Nobody. Few people observe also all the rules about home sanitising, right?
  • When your kid has to watch TV? A good time to watch TV, for all ages is late afternoon. In the morning children are the most employable – they play and learn most actively and their energy is the greatest. TV at that time would replace the activity at a later time, when the kid has to dine and sleep for siesta. So if there is a suitable time for TV, it would be between 3:30 and 5 o’clock pm. A physical activity period follows and then quieting for dinner and sleep.
  • What does the child watch is the subject of the widest discussion. But the question is rather how, with whom. If we leave the child alone even the most educational movie will have no effect. It will not understand anything without explaining and asking questions, because it has no element of interactivity, which has been proven in studies. Your kid may also observe the work of the post tenancy cleaners and ask them questions. It will be amusing, don’t you think? On the other hand meaningless cartoons, in which quick pictures and loud sounds alternate enter freely into the child’s head. So, we have to talk during this time to the child and to make it think about what it sees.

Pay attention on the childish habits when it comes to watching TV, before it has become too late.
